Why does Net Zero matter to your business

As we mark Net Zero Week, it’s a timely reminder that progress towards Net Zero matters not just this week, but all year round. Supporting businesses on their sustainability journey is something we’re committed to every day. Net Zero can help reduce costs, improve efficiency and strengthen resilience against climate risks, while also helping businesses meet changing customer and regulatory expectations. To support the UK’s Net Zero ambitions, businesses need practical solutions that make it easier to act.

What does Net Zero mean?

Net Zero involves balancing emitted and removed greenhouse gases. Unlike gross zero, Net Zero allows for some residual emissions which require removal via certified emissions removal methods.

Why should your business act on carbon reduction?

The climate emergency requires urgent action. Delaying Net Zero planning could make it harder and more costly. Early action could lead to cost savings, operational efficiencies, and reputational benefits. Even small steps, like installing smart meters and energy-efficient lighting, can make a difference.

Is carbon reduction relevant to smaller businesses?

Yes, all businesses can help reduce their carbon footprint. Showing green credentials can win contracts and boost sales. Efficient energy management is smart for business. By setting targets ahead of government regulations, companies can avoid fines and become leaders in sustainability, improving their reputation and credibility.

Is going green costly?

Sustainable energy management can provide financial and environmental benefits. There are many low-cost measures to reduce emissions, government grants and tax incentives can support green initiatives.
